Greenock, Scotland

West of Scotland As my friends know, I come from Scotland. To be exact, I come from an old shipbuilding town called Greenock, which sits at the mouth of the river Clyde. Greenock was once famous for shipbuilding, alas nowadays all but a couple the shipyards are closed. Until comparatively recently, it was the sixth largest town (or city) in Scotland. It can be seen on the map to the left located west of Glasgow.

Belville St and the Clyde
Above is a picture of Belville Street taken from a hill in Greenock. The seven high-rise tower blocks are located on Belville Street. This is very close to where I grew up.

Below is another picture showing the Clyde. This is taken from Lyle Hill in Greenock and shows Gourock and some of Battery Park.
I was born in Greenock and lived there from 1965 till 1987. I moved to Reading in England in 1987 to work as I was finding it difficult to find a job as an electrician in and around Greenock. Probably the best thing that could have happened as I have some great memories from my time in England and now from my time in the US. Funnily enough, now that I reside in California, I do miss the rain (sometimes). On the left there are two views of Greenock and the Clyde.
