New York City 2003

In January 2003 Dawn and I flew to New York City for a short break in the Big Apple. Despite the very cold weather, we had a great time and did some of the usual touristy stuff. Below are some pictures. Click on any of the pictures to see a larger version of the picture.

New York City from the top of the Empire State building.

We arrived in New York straight off the "red eye" from San Jose at 6.35 am. We caught the train to the city and found we were too early to check into the hotel (now theres a surpise). So to kill some time we hunted (in sub-zero temperatures no less) for breakfast and then we went up the Empire State building.

Here is Dawn and I in Times Square. We had just been to see Rent and when we came out, it began to snow !

After we came down from the Empire State building we checked into the hotel and got some sleep. Once we were up and about again we trecked down to Times Square and got some half price tickets for the Thursday night performance of "Rent". While we were at Times Square we took some pictures and also popped to Planet Hollywood for some beers.

After the beers we got some nice food at a local diner we we went and saw the show (Rent - a musical about a guy who dies from AIDS - very cheery and uplifting). At that point we came out and got caught in the snow (as you can see from the Times Square photos).

I am so surprised it is so cold in January !
